The finalists of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the 2025 Australian Open, have been determined today in Melbourne.
Details: In the second semifinal, world number one Jannik Sinner defeated 22-year-old American Ben Shelton in straight sets.
In the first set, Sinner saved two set points on Shelton’s serve and forced a tiebreak, where he triumphed 7-2.
The next two sets were entirely dominated by the Italian, both ending with an identical score of 6-2.
This marks Sinner’s second consecutive Australian Open final. Last year, he defeated Daniil Medvedev to claim the title.
Reminder: Sinner’s opponent in the final will be Alexander Zverev, who advanced earlier today after Novak Djokovic retired due to injury.
