Legendary American gymnast Simone Biles unexpectedly fell short of becoming the Olympic champion in the floor exercise.
Biles finished the competition in second place, with gold going to Brazilian Rebeca Andrade and bronze to fellow American Jordan Chiles.
Biles did not perform her routine to her usual standard, scoring 14.133, while Andrade narrowly edged her out with a score of 14.166.
This wasn't Biles' only disappointment of the day. Earlier, she failed to make the podium in the balance beam event after falling off the apparatus and receiving a score of only 13.100.
Today's silver marks Biles' 11th Olympic medal in her career. Her tally includes 7 golds, 2 silvers, and 2 bronzes.
