The seasoned Argentine defender could be set for a La Liga return as his illustrious career nears its twilight.
Details: According to CNN Portugal, Benfica’s central defender Nicolás Otamendi is on Diego Simeone’s radar for a move to the Spanish capital.
Despite being considered a veteran by football standards, Simeone holds Otamendi’s commitment and drive in high regard. The Atlético manager believes that the 37-year-old could provide tremendous value to the squad next season.
Otamendi’s contract with the Portuguese club expires at the end of this month, paving the way for a potential transfer.
Nicolás already has La Liga experience from his spell at Valencia, and last season he made an impressive 50 appearances for the Eagles—an incredible feat given his age.
