Simba SC, one of Africa’s biggest football clubs, has consistently performed well in continental competitions but has struggled to progress beyond the quarter-finals.

The Msimbazi Reds have reached the CAF Champions League quarter-finals three times (2020/21, 2022/23, and 2023/24) and the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals once (2021/22). However, they have failed to advance further.

Strong Form Under Fadlu Davids

This season, under South African coach Fadlu Davids, Simba has been impressive both domestically and continentally. They are in a tight title race with arch-rivals Young Africans (Yanga SC), trailing by just one point in the Tanzanian Premier League.

With 13 points, Simba led Group A in the CAF Confederation Cup and only suffered one defeat against CS Sfaxien and CS Constantine, two formidable opponents.

Simba supporters are hoping that this season would be the one when they finally break the curse of the knockout stage and go for continental success, as the quarterfinal draw is scheduled for February 20.
