Simba FC board impressed with Steve Barker's coaching pedigree as he replaced Dimitar Pantev at the Tanzanian giants
Steve Barker’s decorated coaching CV at Stellenbosch FC is what attracted Simba FC to him and the reason the Tanzanian side brought him to their club.
Simba FC are the giants in the East African country and seeking a coach who can maintain that standard for the team.
Barker’s arrival is seen as a step in that direction given the glowing statement the club released on the former Stellenbosch FC gaffer.
“The club’s board has reached an agreement to appoint Steve Robert Barker as the head coach of our team for a period of two years,” Simba FC said via a statement.
“Barker (57) a South African citizen has joined our squad from Stellenbosch FC in South Africa. Coach Barker holds an A license from the European Football Association (UEFA) as well as an A license from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
“Barker replaces General Manager Dimitar Pantev a Bulgarian citizen whose contract was terminated last month due to unsatisfactory performance of the team.
“In addition to coaching Stellenbosch, he has also managed Black Aces FC, AmaZulu FC and U. Pretoria all in South Africa.
“The 2023/24 season enabled Stellenbosch to reach the semi-finals of the African Confederation Cup. The 2023/2024 season enabled Stellenbosch to win the Carling Knockout Cup.
