Shocking! 40-year-old Spain legend comes out of retirement
David Silva is putting his boots back on three years after seemingly saying goodbye to professional football.
Details: The 40-year-old former Manchester City and Spain midfielder has come out of retirement and joined Supreme Sha Tin, a newly promoted club competing in the Hong Kong Premier League. Silva has agreed a short-term deal with the Asian side, marking his return to professional football for the first time since 2023.

Silva ended his career in the summer of 2023 while representing Real Sociedad. The Spaniard had suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury during pre-season training, and shortly afterwards officially announced his retirement.
Now the midfielder has made a remarkable U-turn. Supreme Sha Tin announced the high-profile signing after earning promotion to Hong Kong's top division, giving the former Premier League star an unexpected new chapter in Asia.
Silva spent ten seasons with Manchester City between 2010 and 2020 and became one of the most decorated players in the club's modern history. With Spain, he won the 2010 World Cup and the European Championships in 2008 and 2012. It is worth noting that Silva made 125 appearances for the Spanish national team and scored 35 goals, including one in the Euro 2012 final against Italy.
