Today's play at the Australian Open 2025 ended with a major upset.

Details: Fifth-ranked Daniil Medvedev has been eliminated in the round of 64, unexpectedly losing to 19-year-old American tennis player Learner Tien, who is ranked just 121st in the ATP rankings and entered the main draw through the qualifiers.

Tien took the first two sets 6-3 and 7-6, but Medvedev managed to win the third set in a tiebreak. The fourth set saw a dominant performance by Medvedev, who claimed it 6-1.

The decisive fifth set turned into an extended battle. Surprisingly, at 6-5, Medvedev allowed Tien to convert a break point. The young American then sealed the match with a 10-7 victory in the tiebreak.

Learner Tien will face Frenchman Corentin Moutet in the third round.

Reminder: During the match, Medvedev once again smashed his racket on the court and had a heated exchange with a fan.
