A tragic incident occurred during the AS Trophy Open Championship as cricketer Imran Patel passed away from a heart attack on the field, The Sun reports. He was just 35 years old.

While striking the ball, Patel began to feel unwell, collapsing to his knees several times. He managed to speak briefly with the opposing team’s captain and the umpire before losing consciousness while walking off the field. Earlier, Patel had complained of chest and arm pain.

He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

This heartbreaking news has shocked the cricket community, as Patel was renowned for his physical fitness and passion for the game. Fans and fellow players have expressed their condolences for the loss of such a beloved figure.

Patel is survived by his wife and three children, the youngest of whom is just four months old. Outside of cricket, he owned a real estate company and a juice shop.

A special memorial event will be held in his honor, aiming to raise awareness about athlete health and safety, as well as to implement preventive measures to avoid similar tragedies.
