On Sunday, April 12, the final of the Monte Carlo tennis tournament took place, featuring Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. This clash determined both the champion and the ATP No. 1.

Details: The title was claimed by Italian star Jannik Sinner, who defeated Garcia in straight sets, 2–0 (7:6, 6:3). He also managed to overtake the Spaniard in the ATP standings. It is Sinner who has now reclaimed the top spot in the rankings.

He will return to world No. 1 five months after surrendering the lead to Carlos Alcaraz in November 2025.

Just a month ago, Alcaraz held a 3,150-point advantage over Sinner. However, the Italian captured titles in Indian Wells, Miami, and Monte Carlo. The 24-year-old will now have 13,350 points, while Alcaraz stands on 13,240.

Reminder: After defeat in the round of 32 at the ATP Monte Carlo event, world No. 10 Daniil Medvedev reacted in an extremely inappropriate manner toward the racket he had been using during the match.
