Sheikhs have no plans to invest in the Super League Sheikhs have no plans to invest in the Super League

According to The Telegraph, the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Saudi Arabia has no intention of investing in any potential projects related to the European Super League. After evaluating all the risks, the sheikhs have decided that it is more advantageous to invest in their domestic league and focus on the development of Newcastle United, which they own.

In 2021, during the first attempt to create the Super League, discussions were held with the sheikhs, and they showed interest in the project.

Earlier, the CEO of the Super League, Bernd Reichart, stated that the league plans to generate 3 billion euros annually. According to him, the league is negotiating with investors from Europe and the United States.

It is worth recalling that the Super League won a case against FIFA and UEFA in the European Court, which ruled that they do not have the right to punish clubs that decide to participate in the Super League, last week. Essentially, the court overturned UEFA and FIFA's monopoly on organizing tournaments. However, after this decision, virtually all top clubs in Europe released official statements expressing disinterest in the Super League project.

It's worth noting that for now, the project only includes Real Madrid and Barcelona, although statements in support of the Super League have been made by Napoli and Lazio.
