WBC lightweight world champion Shakur Stevenson revealed that he injured both hands during his successful title defense against Artem Harutyunyan.

On the night of July 7, Stevenson defeated the German contender by unanimous decision.

“Did you have injured hands during the fight with Artem?” a fan asked Stevenson on the social media platform X.

“Yes, both. They are brittle, I’m going to strengthen them during the break,” Stevenson replied.

Earlier, Shakur harshly criticized the promotional company Top Rank and ESPN for their handling of the fight's broadcast. The fighter was extremely unhappy with the way the broadcast of the fight against Artem was organized and showed fans leaving their seats during the fight.

It should be noted that the fight against Harutyunyan was the last one for Stevenson under his contract with Top Rank. Stevenson declined to extend the contract and will become a free agent.
