LMFAO star, best known for the hit Sexy and I Know It, has embarked on a professional tennis career at the age of 49. The musician, whose real name is Stefan Gordy, made his debut at the ITF M15 tournament in Egypt, facing Norwegian player Leighton Rivera, The Sun reports.

Gordy received a wild card entry into the tournament and put in a respectable effort, though he ultimately lost to Rivera—ranked 1299th in the ATP rankings— in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.

The musician shared a video clip from his debut match on Instagram, showcasing the moment to his half a million followers.

LMFAO had a background in tennis during his youth but was forced to abandon his sporting career due to a wrist injury. He later turned to music, achieving global fame with multiple chart-topping hits.

Two of his singles reached No. 1 on the UK charts, and in 2013, LMFAO won Best Group in the World at the World Music Awards.

Despite shifting to music, Gordy maintained connections to the tennis world, having dated former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka between 2012 and 2014.
