Sevilla Coach Provides Update on Jerome Akor’s Return from Injury
Sevilla head coach Garcia Pimienta has revealed that Jerome Akor could return to action around the home fixture against Athletic Bilbao on March 16. The 25-year-old forward has been recovering from a thigh muscle injury sustained in training.
“Akor is in the process (of recovering). In his case, he could be brought forward because of the strength of his muscles,” Pimienta stated.
Meanwhile, Jerome Akor Adams made his Sevilla debut as the Rojiblancos played out a 0-0 draw against Getafe at the Estadio Coliseum on Saturday. Akor started on the bench before replacing Suso in the 81st minute.
Nigerian Presence in Sevilla’s Squad
Chidera Ejuke also featured in the match, coming on for Ruben Vargas in the 71st minute. The 27-year-old has scored once in 11 La Liga appearances this season. Kelechi Iheanacho, however, remained an unused substitute and has featured in nine league games so far.
With Akor nearing full fitness, Sevilla will be hoping to maintain momentum as they push forward in La Liga.
