Manchester United are generating record revenues, but the financial nightmare at Old Trafford continues! The English giants have recorded losses for seven consecutive financial years, while their enormous borrowing burden has raised fresh questions about the Glazer family's ownership.

Details: According to figures reported by The Athletic and highlighted by Polymarket Sports, Manchester United's borrowings have reached approximately £779 million. The club's official accounts confirmed a seventh consecutive annual loss, with a £43 million deficit for the financial year ending June 2026. Revenue nevertheless reached a record £677.6 million.

The latest financial results were originally published in September. United reported £689 million in borrowings as of June 30, before taking on an additional £90 million in subsequent months. That explains the figure approaching £779 million. However, it excludes outstanding transfer payments. BBC Sport estimated the club's wider obligations at approximately £1.15 billion in September.

The losses have continued despite cost reductions under minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe. United's wage bill fell by 3.6%, while operating performance improved. Yet financing costs of around £69 million wiped out the progress. Since 2019, cumulative losses have reached approximately £444 million, according to The Guardian. The latest deficit also included exceptional costs linked to Ruben Amorim's departure.

It's worth noting that the Glazers have controlled Manchester United since 2005, although Ratcliffe's INEOS oversees football operations. The club expects revenue of £740 million to £760 million in 2026/27 following its return to the Champions League. Whether that growth can finally end the losing streak remains uncertain.
