Setback for the Basques: Gorka Guruzeta to miss Newcastle clash

Athletic Bilbao travelled to face Newcastle in the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League, but they’ll be without one of their key players.

Details: The Basque club confirmed that forward Gorka Guruzeta will miss the match. The 29-year-old is suffering from a flu-like illness affecting his gastrointestinal tract.

In this season’s UEFA Champions League campaign, Guruzeta has scored three goals in three matches, along with one goal in La Liga.

Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia sustained an injury just five minutes into the game against Qarabag. He was unable to continue and left the field in the seventh minute, with Moisés Caicedo coming on in his place.

Reminder: Chelsea’s head coach recently fielded the second-youngest starting lineup ever used by an English club in an away UEFA Champions League match.
