Serious trouble! Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio convicted of drunk driving
Raúl Asencio has found himself at the center of a major legal scandal off the pitch.
Details: According to reports from Canarias 7 and Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid centre-back Raúl Asencio has been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol on the island of Gran Canaria. The serious traffic offense took place last August, when police stopped the defender during a routine check.
Official breathalyzer tests revealed that the footballer's blood alcohol content was almost four times higher than the legally permitted threshold, leading judicial authorities to issue an immediate criminal sentence.
The Spanish court handed Asencio a mandatory driving disqualification along with a financial penalty, casting a shadow over the young defender's standing within Carlo Ancelotti's senior squad rotation.
It is worth noting that according to Transfermarkt, the 23-year-old Spanish defender's current market value stands at €10 million.
