Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson may face imprisonment. According to Il Mattino, the Icelandic striker is accused of rape.

A citizen of Iceland has filed a police report against the footballer. The alleged incident occurred last summer: the player is accused of sexual assault by a woman he met in a Reykjavik club.

Gudmundsson will have to appear before the Icelandic tribunal this autumn. If found guilty, he faces severe consequences: Article 194 of the Icelandic Penal Code stipulates a prison sentence ranging from 1 to 16 years.

Gudmundsson was previously accused of sexual assault last year, but the case was closed. However, the alleged victim appealed successfully, and the case has been reopened.

Gudmundsson had a very strong season, finishing fifth in the Serie A scoring charts with 14 goals. Previously, the president of Genoa evaluated the possibility of transferring the Icelandic national team forward this summer.
