Reports indicate that Osvaldo arrived at the hospital after his sister found him at home in Banfield and helped arrange medical assistance. Following medical examinations, the former forward required an operation and was transferred to intensive care, where he continues to be monitored.

Osvaldo enjoyed a long career on both sides of the Atlantic. The Argentine-born striker represented Italy internationally and played for clubs including Roma, Juventus, Inter, Southampton, Espanyol and Porto. In Argentina, he had two spells with Boca Juniors before eventually finishing his professional career with Banfield.

It is worth noting that Osvaldo retired from professional football in July 2020. During his time with Boca Juniors, the striker made 21 appearances and scored seven goals, while at international level he earned 14 senior caps for Italy and scored four times.
