It's been a long time since we've seen so many debutants at the World Cup.
Details: Last night, the Haitian national team defeated Nicaragua in the 6th round of the group stage qualifiers with a 2-0 scoreline, securing a direct ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
Haiti opened the scoring as early as the 9th minute thanks to a goal from Louicius Djeedson, and just before halftime, in the 45+1st minute of stoppage time, Rayan Providence doubled their lead.

The second half saw little in the way of highlights, and in the end, the Haitians held on for victory, which allowed them to qualify for the World Cup ahead of Honduras, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua in their group.
The last time Haiti played at the World Cup was way back in 1974, when they finished last in a group with Argentina, Italy, and Poland, failing to earn a single point in three matches.
