Senegal vs Botswana: what you need to know about the match

Senegal enjoyed an excellent qualification campaign for the African Cup of Nations. They went unbeaten, collecting 16 points from six matches and finishing top of their group. In 2023, Senegal were crowned champions of the tournament, but at the previous AFCON edition they were eliminated as early as the Round of 16 after a penalty shootout.

Botswana had not appeared at the African Cup of Nations since 2012. That tournament remains their first and only previous participation, where they failed to reach the knockout stage.
