Senegal to file a corruption complaint over the CAF case
The standoff between Senegal and the Confederation of African Football has taken a new turn.
Having referred the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to challenge the decision of the CAF Appeals Committee, which stripped Senegal of the Africa Cup of Nations title and awarded it to Morocco, the Senegalese Football Federation now intends to take the case to the criminal courts. At a press conference on Thursday 26 March in Paris, the legal team representing the governing body of Senegalese football announced that a complaint would soon be filed. Seydou Diagne, one of the lawyers, explained that this complaint would target five individuals, without, however, directly implicating Morocco.
A complaint for corruption is to be filed against five individuals. We are not accusing the Kingdom of Morocco. However, we have legitimate grounds to request the opening of an international criminal investigation in the US.
