The Senegalese national team might soon make history, as the English Football Association (FA) has suggested a friendly match against the Lions of Teranga.

Reports say the FA has officially asked Senegal to play on June 10, 2025, at Nottingham’s City Ground—a historic stadium where England hasn’t played since 1909. The concept of this match has already generated a lot of interest, even if the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has not yet confirmed.

This game offers England, who are now rated fourth by FIFA and are coming off a successful performance at Euro 2024, a chance to put themselves to the test against one of Africa's best sides. Senegal is still a formidable force, rated 17th in the world, even if they just lost the African champion title to Ivory Coast.

This would mark only the second clash between the nations, following their Round of 16 encounter at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where England triumphed 3-0.

Ireland has allegedly asked Senegal to play a friendly match in Dublin on June 6 or 7, which adds excitement. As Senegal is ready for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the FSF, under the direction of Augustin Senghor, must choose between three prominent options.
