Searching for reliability at the back. Inter eye Serie A goalkeeper
Inter Milan are considering Udinese's 27-year-old goalkeeper Maduka Okoye as a potential replacement for Spanish shot-stopper Josep Martínez.
Details: According to the authoritative Italian publication Il Messaggero, the Nerazzurri's scouting department have been closely monitoring the Nigerian goalkeeper's assured performances throughout the current season. Udinese's management are aware of the top club's interest and value their first-choice goalkeeper at around €20 million.
No official enquiries or offers have been made to Udinese at this stage. A potential deal between the clubs is most likely to take shape during the January transfer window, should the question of Martínez's future at the Milan club require an immediate resolution.
It is worth noting that German football academy product Maduka Okoye has been playing for Udinese since the summer of 2023, quickly establishing himself as the team's undisputed No. 1. His imposing stature, excellent reflexes on the goal line and composure when coming off his line have made the goalkeeper one of the most reliable shot-stoppers in Italy's Serie A, while also attracting the attention of Nigeria's national-team coaching staff.
