Arab investment at San Siro. Qatari sheikhs target takeover of Milan giant
Representatives of Qatar's ruling Al Thani family have shown a concrete interest in acquiring a stake in Milan giants Inter and have already held preliminary talks with the club's owners.
Details: According to the respected Italian publication Il Messaggero, Middle Eastern investors have established direct contact with US investment firm Oaktree Capital Management, which owns the rights to the Milan giants. At the initial stage of the potential deal, the parties are discussing the purchase of a minority stake in the Nerazzurri.
The possible arrival of Qatari businessmen could become a key factor in strengthening the Italian champions financially. Although the American owners currently retain strategic control of the club, the arrival of wealthy partners from Doha could significantly accelerate funding for major infrastructure projects, including plans to build a new stadium for the club.
It is worth noting that investment fund Oaktree took control of Inter in the spring of 2024, when the club's previous owners, Chinese corporation Suning, failed to refinance their debt obligations in time. Under the American administrators, the Nerazzurri have remained one of Serie A's leading contenders and continued to perform consistently in the UEFA Champions League while gradually improving the club's financial position.
Reminder: Oh no. Inter leader injured and set to miss a month
