Scandal! Gonçalo Ramos publicly humiliates Ronaldo
Gonçalo Ramos is no longer willing to settle for a backup role in Portugal's attack.
Details: In an interview with Canal 11, the 25-year-old AC Milan striker made a bold statement about his place in the national team, his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo and the opportunities he missed under former head coach Roberto Martínez.
“I want to be a starter for Portugal. I've made it clear that if anyone deserves to play, it's me. The coach and the entire country can see that. We respect Cristiano's status, but I think we could play together more often. My good form and goals could be rewarded without dropping Cristiano. I have no resentment towards Roberto Martínez, but I lost Euro 2024. I only played 15 minutes against Georgia in a game that meant nothing. At the 2026 World Cup, I scored against Croatia but barely played after that. I know I could have helped a lot. I missed two major tournaments that will never come back.”
Despite his determination to become a regular starter, Ramos emphasized that he does not want Ronaldo to lose his place. The forward believes the two could form an effective attacking partnership, with the final decision resting with current Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus.
It is worth noting that Ramos has scored three goals in four appearances for Portugal in the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League, finding the net against Norway and Denmark.
Reminder: 41 years old and unstoppable! Cristiano Ronaldo scores incredible hat-trick in just 15 minutes
