England's preparations for the start of the 2026 World Cup have kicked off with a sensational criminal incident.

Details: According to Sky Sports, Missouri state police have arrested two individuals as part of a high-profile investigation into the theft of equipment and training gear belonging to the Three Lions. The theft occurred during the team's equipment transfer from Florida to Kansas City, right before Gareth Southgate's men were set to hold their first training session.

Reports indicate that the thieves broke into the team vehicle and made off with a huge amount of vital property. Among the stolen items were the personal boots of the team's biggest stars—Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham.

Additionally, the criminals took expensive analytics equipment, tactical boards used by the coaching staff, and even massage tables. Kansas City law enforcement responded swiftly and have already apprehended two persons of interest.

It's worth noting that England's first match of the tournament will take place on Wednesday, June 17 at 22:00 Central European Time, with Croatia as their opening opponent.

Reminder: The Opta supercomputer has named its main favorite to win the World Cup.
