Tottenham are searching for a way out of their attacking crisis.

Details: According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur have become the latest club to show interest in Argentine striker Mauro Icardi. The 33-year-old is available on a free transfer, allowing Spurs to strengthen Roberto De Zerbi's attack even though the summer transfer window has already closed.

The interest comes at a particularly difficult moment for Tottenham. De Zerbi's team have failed to score in each of their opening four Premier League matches of the 2026/27 campaign, collecting only two points. Spurs lost 3-0 to Brentford and 2-0 to Newcastle before recording goalless draws against Nottingham Forest and Everton.

Icardi has been without a club since leaving Galatasaray. His contract with the Turkish giants expired on June 30, 2026, and Galatasaray officially confirmed the striker's departure in mid-July after four seasons in Istanbul.

The Argentine could therefore join Tottenham immediately as a free agent. His vast experience includes spells with Inter, Paris Saint-Germain and Galatasaray, while he has also represented Argentina at senior international level.

It is worth noting that Icardi remained productive during his final season in Turkey. The striker made 31 Süper Lig appearances in 2025/26, scoring 14 goals and providing one assist. Across his entire Galatasaray spell, he scored 77 goals in 134 official matches.
