Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh speaks with Tyson Fury
Saudi Arabia’s head of boxing, Turki Alalshikh, revealed in an interview with The Stomping Ground that he recently had a phone conversation with British heavyweight Tyson Fury.
Alalshikh had been actively working to organize a blockbuster fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua, so Fury’s recent retirement announcement was likely disappointing news for him.
“I spoke with him, but I don’t talk about boxing. I just check about his health and his family. “I think maybe he’ll return. Yes ,[I think he will return], I hope so,” Alalshikh said.
Anthony Joshua also remains hopeful that Fury will reconsider his retirement and agree to a showdown between them, calling it the perfect fight from both a sporting and commercial perspective.
Fury announced his retirement after his rematch loss to Oleksandr Usyk, which took place in Riyadh in December 2024.
However, many remain skeptical about Fury’s decision being final, as the British heavyweight has previously retired multiple times—only to return to the ring soon after.
