Mohau Nkota has underwent operation on his knee which saw him miss Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana World Cup squad.

Nkota, based in Saudi Arabia's Pro League, was seen as one of the potential players to impress for Bafana at the World Cup but personal tragedy and injury saw him miss out.

He lost his father earlier in April and the knee injury also has not helped matters for the former Orlando Pirates midfielder.

"First-team footballer, Mohau Nkota, underwent successful knee surgery yesterday," a club statement read.

"The club family wishes the player a speedy recovery, full health, and a quick return to the pitch to continue his career with the team."
