Samuel Eto'o is a source of inspiration for Christian Kofane

The Bayer Leverkusen striker sees the former Indomitable Lion as an idol and a legend of African football.

At a press conference ahead of Bayer Leverkusen's Champions League match against Arsenal, Christian Kofane was asked about Samuel Eto'o, who celebrates his 45th birthday on 10 March 2026. But the Bayer Leverkusen player did not mince his words when paying tribute to Eto'o's immense legacy.

For Kofane, Samuel Eto'o is a symbol of success and a role model for a whole generation of African footballers who dream of following in his footsteps on the international stage.

Today is his birthday. He is an idol, a role model, a legend in Africa. He is the one who made me believe that anything is possible.
