The Tunisia national team has been left without a head coach following their elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations by Mali.

Details: According to HF World, Sami Trabelsi has decided to resign from his position as head coach of the Tunisia national team after the squad was knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations at the Round of 16 stage.

In the decisive match, Tunisia drew 1-1 with Mali after regular and extra time, but ultimately fell short in the penalty shootout, losing 2-3. Remarkably, Mali played with ten men for over 90 minutes.

Despite an impressive World Cup qualifying campaign—nine wins and one draw in ten matches without conceding a single goal—Tunisia disappointed at the AFCON finals. The team managed to win just one game and failed to keep a clean sheet throughout the tournament.

As a result, a new coach will prepare the team for the 2026 World Cup. Their group stage opponents will include the Netherlands, Japan, and the winner of the European play-off B (Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, or Albania).

Reminder: The participation of Algeria defender Rayan Ait-Nouri in the CAF clash against DR Congo is in doubt due to illness.
