Salah Jokes About Following Lineker’s Path to a New Club in the Future
The renowned former England footballer Gary Lineker revealed a playful discussion he had with Mohamed Salah on the Egyptian star's prospects at Liverpool. Salah's contract with the team is coming to an end, and there has been a lot of conjecture regarding his possible transfer, including a connection to Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia.
Salah alluded to his uncertain future earlier in November when he said he felt "more outside the team than in it." He said that negotiations for a contract extension had not advanced significantly, which fueled more suspicions that he was leaving.
In a conversation with Lineker, who moved to Japan at the age of 32 in 1992, the two shared a humorous exchange about the prospect of Salah potentially leaving Liverpool for another club later in his career.
During Lineker’s appearance on the “The Rest Is Football” show, he recalled the conversation: "I had 10 minutes chat with Mohamed Salah while I was interviewing Arne Slot, and we spoke really well."
In response to Alan Shearer's question regarding if he knew anything about Salah's future at Liverpool, Lineker said, "I couldn't figure it out."
Lineker related a humorous incident in which Salah inquired, "How old were you when you finished?" in jest. For his part, Lineker said, "I was 32 when I moved to Japan for a couple of years."
"Ah, you went for the money, right?" Salah then responded in a hilarious manner. Lineker said in jest, "Yes, I suppose so." In response, Salah said cheekily, "Maybe I’ll do the same."
"Yes, it was really a joke, and Mohamed has a great sense of humor," Lineker informed Shearer as he chuckled, indicating that the talk was lighthearted. He is a unique player.
