Saintfiet on Cameroon Chaos: 'Eto’o Is Your Boss, Show Respect

Mali national team boss Tom Saintfiet has taken a firm stance in the ongoing feud between Cameroon coach Marc Brys and FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o, calling out his compatriot for what he deemed a lack of respect.
Saintfiet’s Stern Message
In comments made to Tof Sports, Saintfiet did not mince words when reacting to the now-infamous public altercation between Brys and Eto’o:
“When the government and the federation do not agree, there is a problem. But as a coach, despite egos, you must always respect your president, What we saw on television is unacceptable. You cannot ask Samuel Eto’o in front of the cameras what he has done as a coach — it’s crazy. He is the president of the federation, your boss, and a great man of football respected by the Cameroonian people.” he said.
Eto’o Standing Firm
Despite growing political pressure, Samuel Eto'o seems to be in control of team affairs and appears to be winning the power battle. His recent refusal to approve assistant coach Joachim Mununga’s appointment highlights his dominant role in shaping the Indomitable Lions' bench.
Voices like Saintfiet's simply serve to strengthen Eto'o's position as the standoff goes on, both as a football great and as a federation leader who is unwilling to cede power.
