Safa has released a statement in an attempt to quash rumours about unpaid salaries and bonuses to Bafana Bafana.

A report claims that the national side’s technical team is yet to be paid its dues. But Safa in refuting it are not clear about whether there are monies owed but only focusing on saying these reports are trying to destabilise Bafana’s progress.

As far as the Zambia game is concerned, all is good in camp. The only issue is that the technical staff and players haven’t been paid," a source on Kickoff website revealed.

"The technical staff haven’t been paid since March, and players’ bonuses are not paid yet. So, it's salaries for [the] technical staff and bonuses for players that are being owed.

"Bafana’s technical staff have not been paid salaries. Only the coach, Hugo Broos, and assistant coach Helman Mkhalele have received their money."

But Safa’s response does not address the money issue.

"We note with disappointment the continued attempts to cast SAFA in a negative light, particularly at a time when our national team is performing exceptionally well and bringing pride to the country," said SAFA in response.

"Our focus remains firmly on ensuring that the team is fully supported and well-prepared for the upcoming AFCON tournament. This period should be about rallying behind our players and technical staff as they strive for excellence on the international stage, not about creating distractions that undermine their efforts.”
