Safa President Danny Jordaan on Hugo Broos leaving as Bafana Bafana coach after World Cup: We are keen on ensuring stability in our coaching staff
Hugo Broos may be taken out of the thoughts of leaving Bafana Bafana after this year’s World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico.
The Belgian-born coach has reiterated that he will step down as the national team coach after the global spectacle in June but the South African Football Association president, Danny Jordaan said they will engage Broos about all available possibilities.
Those possibilities include staying on as the coach beyond the World Cup, where they are in group A with South Korea, Mexico and another country to be determined.
“Never in the history of South Africa did you have a coach stay the course of their contract,” Jordaan said. “Coaches must be given the opportunity to settle the team, scan the land and decide which players are suitable for my team.”
Jordaan said Safa are realising that chopping and changing coaches are detrimental to the national development course and they are keen on ensuring continuity for Bafana.
“This is one problem we realise. This cannot continue. We must give stability to the coaching staff,” he added.
