Safa CEO Lydia Monyepao differs to Danny Jordaan on Hugo Broos: We are not thinking about whether the coach is staying or not at the moment
Lydia Monyepao, Safa CEO, is having a different opinion to her president Danny Jordaan on whether Hugo Broos will stay on as he Bafana Bafana coach after the World Cup or not.
Jordaan, yesterday, said Safa are keen on having a conversation with Hugo Broos on staying as a Bafana coach beyond the World Cup in USA in June but Monyepao has a different stance to this.
“Our focus right now as an association is about the World Cup as far as Bafana are concerned, so we are not really thinking beyond July 2026 because I think that will impact the preparation for our players and technical team,” said Monyepao.
“We are not trying to think about whether coach Hugo Broos is staying or not, but our main focus is to ensure that we prepare our team for the tournament adequately,” she added.
Bafana will face Panama in two friendly matches later this month at Moses Mabhida Stadium and Broos is expected to announce his team in two weeks’ time.
Those game will be on the 27th and 31st of this month.
