Sacked from the Indomitable Lions' technical staff before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations but still receiving his salary
Sacked in early December 2025 by the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot), Marc Brys still retains the privileges associated with his position as national team coach. The Belgian coach, who was not on the Indomitable Lions' bench at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, still maintains his contractual benefits.
According to Sport News Africa, citing well-informed sources, Marc Brys is still receiving his salary and has even received a bonus linked to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, in which he did not participate. According to the media outlet, ‘the state has never officially terminated Mr Brys' contract’.
This clearly explains the ongoing crisis between the Cameroonian Ministry of Sport and Fecafoot since the Belgian's appointment. Marc Brys was hired by the ministry without the approval of the Federation led by Samuel Eto'o, who eventually ousted the Belgian coach.
On the other hand, David Pagou, appointed Cameroon's coach by Fecafoot after Marc Brys' dismissal, has neither a contract with the ministry nor a salary, nor do the members of his staff.
