Scottish specialist Russell Martin may soon return to the manager's seat.

Details: Today, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported on his X page that Scottish side Rangers are close to reaching an agreement with the 39-year-old coach.

Martin's most recent club was Southampton, with whom he parted ways in December 2024. Since then, the Scottish manager has remained without a team.

Given that Martin is still relatively young for a head coach, this decision could carry certain risks for Rangers. Nevertheless, the club's management appears to be confident in the ambitious manager's potential.

It's worth noting that the last coach of Rangers was Barry Ferguson, who agreed to lead the team until the end of the season in January 2025. It seems unlikely that his contract will be extended.

Russell Martin ended his playing career in 2019, spending his final season with MK Dons.

Reminder: Davide Ancelotti held talks with Rangers representatives.
