Rulani Mokwena responds to why he told Sipho Mbule to join Orlando Pirates reports

Rulani Mokwena has responded to the reports that he advised Sipho Mbule against joining Kaizer Chiefs but Orlando Pirates.

Mbule, the former Pirates midfielder, revealed that it was at the words of Mokwena that he joined the Sea Robbers having also being approached by Chiefs.

Mokwena, a former Pirates coach and now a gaffer at Egyptian side Pyramids, said this was not in anyway against Chiefs as Mbule did not mention the Amakhosi interest.

“He didn’t mention to me that Chiefs had also made an offer. What he had asked me was whether or not he should join Orlando Pirates and what my thoughts were,” said Mokwena in a virtual interview with South Africa journalists.

“And I just gave my opinion in relation to what I thought about Sipho as a football player, what I thought about Orlando Pirates as a football club, and yeah, at the end he had to make his own decision, and he chose to go to Orlando Pirates, and I think even in retrospect and looking back, I think it was the right decision.”
