Neymar needs to choose his words more carefully.
Details: According to DiarioAS, 34-year-old Santos midfielder Neymar has landed at the center of a sexism scandal following a Brazilian Serie A match against Remo.
The controversy erupted after Neymar expressed his extreme displeasure with the referee's decisions in a post-match interview, referring to head official Savio Sampaio as “Chico”—a term considered an insult in Brazilian Portuguese.

However, it later emerged that Neymar said “acordou de Chico,” which translates as “woke up on the wrong side of the bed” or “had a bad day.” Yet, this phrase is also used colloquially to refer to a woman's period, giving Neymar's words an entirely new and controversial meaning.
According to CNN Brazil, the word “chico” can be synonymous with “pig” or “dirty,” terms once used to describe menstruation in women because of past associations with dirtiness, and now carry derogatory undertones.
Neymar is already facing backlash from various women's organizations, who believe his comments showed disrespect toward women.
Neymar himself has yet to publicly respond to these allegations.
