Ronaldo won't like this! Portugal international names his Ballon d'Or favourite
João Félix has made his choice in the Ballon d'Or race, throwing his support behind one of the brightest young talents in world football.
Details: The Portuguese international and Al Nassr forward has publicly backed Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal to win the prestigious individual award. In an interview with Spanish newspaper AS, Félix explained why he believes the 19-year-old deserves to have his name written into football history.
Félix did not hesitate when asked about his favourite for the Ballon d'Or, singling out Yamal's extraordinary talent and his ability to captivate football fans with his performances.
“Lamine Yamal should be the Ballon d'Or. Lamine is FOOTBALL. He is a star, and he deserves to have his name immortalized in football history — and if there's a player for whom you turn on the TV and stay glued to the screen watching him play, it's Lamine,” Félix told AS.
The Portuguese forward also acknowledged the impressive seasons enjoyed by Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane. However, he emphasized that Yamal's playing style makes the Barcelona star a particularly compelling candidate for the award.
Félix also highlighted the Spaniard's triumph at the 2026 World Cup, pointing out that winning the tournament in a World Cup year is an important factor in the Ballon d'Or race.
It is worth noting that Félix and Yamal were teammates at Barcelona during the 2023/24 season, when the Portuguese forward played for the Catalan club on loan from Atlético Madrid. Félix currently represents Al Nassr, while Yamal continues his career at Barcelona.
