The Croatian star has stormed into the elite group of footballers with the most professional appearances.
Details: The portal Only Stats has published a ranking of the most durable players in football history.
Notably, the list includes two active players still competing at the highest level.
English goalkeeper Peter Shilton tops the chart, having played in the previous century, while the aforementioned Modrić rounds out the top ten. Thanks to his recent appearance against Juventus in the FIFA Club World Cup, Modrić has now surpassed Roberto Carlos, who finished his career with 1,111 matches.
Luka Modrić began his professional career back in 2003 with Dinamo Zagreb. Since then, the Croatian maestro has played for clubs such as Zrinjski Mostar, Inter Zaprešić, Tottenham, and, of course, Real Madrid.
