Luka Modrić left Real Madrid at the end of last season and it seemed he was set to depart Europe, but things have taken a completely different turn.

Details: According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan have managed to reach an agreement with the Croatian midfielder. There is a verbal understanding between the parties, and Modrić is expected to sign a contract with the Rossoneri very soon. Milan anticipate the deal will be finalized on Wednesday, June 4.

By the way, Milan have officially appointed a new head coach. Massimiliano Allegri has taken over as the team's new manager.

Earlier reports stated that the Rossoneri offered Modrić a three-year contract with a salary of five million euros per year.

Reminder: Allegri has already managed Milan before—he joined the club in 2010 and clinched the club's 18th Scudetto in his first season, then went on to win the Italian Super Cup in 2011.
