The transfer of Girona forward Artem Dovbyk to Atlético Madrid is on the verge of collapse.

Atlético had already agreed on all the terms of the transfer with Girona, as the Madrid club was ready to activate the player's release clause of €40 million. However, at the last moment, Roma entered the race for the striker.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Dovbyk prefers to move to Roma. Today, his agent flew to Rome to discuss the details of the potential contract with the club.

At the same time, it is known that Roma is not yet ready to pay €40 million for Dovbyk and has not reached an agreement with Girona.

In Roma, Dovbyk could replace Romelu Lukaku, who played last season on loan from Chelsea.

In the recently concluded La Liga season, Dovbyk scored 24 goals, and Girona sensationally finished in third place, qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in their history.
