Artem Dovbyk moved from Ukrainian club Dnipro-1 to Spanish side Girona last summer. This transfer played a significant role in Girona's phenomenal season, where the Catalan club secured third place in La Liga and earned its first-ever spot in the Champions League. Dovbyk himself became the top scorer of the Spanish championship.

Such impressive performance by the Ukrainian forward attracted the attention of many top clubs. During the off-season, Atletico Madrid was the closest to signing him, but at the last moment, Italian club Roma entered the race. Currently, the Wolves are the leading contenders for the player.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Dovbyk has agreed on all terms with Roma and is waiting for negotiations between the clubs to begin. The Ukrainian has been offered a contract until 2029. It is expected that the Italians will make an initial offer to Girona of €30 million next week.

Italian publication Corriere dello Sport reports that Dovbyk rejected an offer from Atletico Madrid's coach Diego Simeone on Friday, making clear his desire to join the Romans.

The 28-year-old forward was not involved in the pre-season friendly match against Espanyol on Saturday, and his agent has started following Roma directors Lina Souloukou and Floran Ghisolfi on social media, hinting at the impending transfer. Dovbyk is expected to arrive in Rome next week to finalize the move.
