Mexican winger Rodrigo Huescas could be deported from Denmark after being caught significantly exceeding the speed limit in central Copenhagen, Marca reports, citing Danish outlet B.T.. The FC Copenhagen player was detained on March 28 after driving at 111 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, a violation that initially carried the risk of a 20-day prison sentence.

Now, authorities are reportedly considering expulsion from the country. According to lawyer Mikkel Cramer, interviewed by Viaplay Sport News, “there is a potential risk of deportation in this case, but it entirely depends on whether the prosecution has requested it.” Huescas is scheduled to appear before Copenhagen police on April 28, where a final decision on his punishment will be made.

The situation has caused concern at both local and international levels. Huescas, who joined FC Copenhagen from Cruz Azul in 2023, has shown promise on the pitch, recently contributing assists and securing a spot in the starting lineup. However, this off-field incident threatens to cut his European venture short and impact the Danish club’s campaign.

The 21-year-old’s legal outcome could set a precedent for how foreign players are treated in Denmark when involved in serious traffic violations. If deported, Huescas would not only leave Copenhagen prematurely but also face uncertainty regarding his next professional move.
