Former forward of Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Milan, Robinho, will try to appeal the decision of a Brazilian court that sentenced him to 9 years of imprisonment, according AFP.

The ex-footballer's lawyers are demanding his release until all appeals are considered by the court. Typically, this process can take over a year.

To recall, Robinho was accused of participating in a group rape while still playing for Milan. An Italian court issued an international arrest warrant for Robinho, but he remained in his homeland all this time, and Brazil refused to extradite him.

However, yesterday a Brazilian court issued an arrest warrant for Robinho. He is expected to serve his prison sentence in his home country.

Recently, another famous Brazilian former footballer, Dani Alves, was also convicted of rape. He was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for raping a woman in a Barcelona club in 2022.
