Robinho lost his appeal in court, and his prison sentence will remain unchanged
Former footballer for Milan, Man City, and Brazil, Robinho, was sentenced to nine years in prison for rape in Italy. The player appealed the decision, but unsuccessfully.
Details: According to Brazilian outlet Portal Leo Dias, Robinho's legal team lost the appeal, hoping for a reduction in the sentence. Robinho still has several chances to contest the court's decision within the Brazilian legal system, potentially reducing his sentence or reclassifying the crime.
However, each appeal must meet specific legal criteria, and not all are accepted for review. Once all avenues are exhausted, the court's decision will remain final.
Reminder: The Italian court sentenced Robinho back in 2017 for the rape of a 22-year-old Albanian woman. The player did not agree with the sentence and expressed his intention to appeal the ruling.
In January 2022, his cassation appeal was officially rejected, and in February of that year, Italy issued an international arrest warrant. Robinho is currently serving his sentence in Brazil.
