Rivers United Players Rewarded with Cash Bonuses After Strong Start to Season
Rivers United players and officials have been rewarded with cash bonuses following their impressive start to the 2026/27 season.
The Pride of Rivers are reported to have received ₦2 million after recording a 2-0 victory over Plateau United in their opening Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture.
Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Barrister Chris Green, rewarded the team with ₦1 million for each goal scored in the victory.
The Port Harcourt-based side also received a further $2,000 after securing a draw against FC San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire in the CAF Champions League preliminary round. The Pride of Rivers will now aim for victory in the second leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, next Sunday.
