RIP. Utrecht announced the death of former club striker

The Dutch football community and FC Utrecht have suffered a heavy loss.

Details: Dutch football club FC Utrecht has officially announced the death of former striker André Hulshorst. The ex-winger passed away at the age of 80 in Nieuwegein, where he had spent his final years in a care home.

André Hulshorst was born in Dinxperlo and began his career at De Graafschap. He then spent five seasons with Heracles Almelo, becoming the club's top scorer in the 1969/70 season. In 1972, at the age of 26, the footballer joined Utrecht, where he made his debut in the top flight of Dutch football — the Eredivisie.

The attack-minded winger played for the red-and-whites from 1972 to 1978, becoming a notable figure during the club's early years following its merger. During that period, he made 163 appearances for the Domstad outfit and scored 24 goals.It is worth noting that over fourteen seasons in Dutch professional football, André Hulshorst played nearly 400 matches before retiring in 1978.
